Amy Winehouse Back In Rehab

It’s “Back to Rehab” for “Back to Black” singer Amy Winehouse. Reps for the jazzy British powerhouse, who swept the 2007 Grammy Awards, have confirmed that Winehouse re-entered rehabilitation in Southwest London this week as the latest step in her ongoing battle against drugs and alcohol.

“She has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice,” according to Winehouse’s spokesperson. “Her dad sat her down and said ‘I think you’re drinking too much again.’ So she agreed to go an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem. She’s determined, and this is all off her own back. It’s just a lapse. There are ups and downs on the road, and there have been mostly ups recently. But this is a down and she’s done the right thing and gone to rehab.”

Snoops say that on her way to rehab, Winehouse stopped by London liquor store, where she picked up a mini-bottle of Smirnoff for one last swig. Oh Amy, we can always depend on you to deliver the hits with a side of foolery! Amy has a storied history with addiction and was photographed snorting cocaine in a series of snaps published in Britain’s The Sun several years ago.

The singer is set to hit the road for a series of summer gigs, kicking off in Europe June 18. Amy’s scheduled to take the stage in Belgrade, Serbia, Greece, Space, Poland, and Hungary. Some fans believe she will be performing some new material ahead of the long-overdue follow-up album to her blockbuster 2006 LP.Link

Javed Jaffrey's Nasty Finale to Double Dhamaal Filming

Javed Jaffrey injured his knee on the set of Indra Kumar's comedy Double Dhamaal during the wrap up scene at Mehboob Studios.

Javed had earlier hurt his thumb during the filming.

During the filming of first Dhamaal (2007), Javed had hurt his leg.

The 47-year-old comic actor/dancer plays beanie donning Manav in the film. He is seen mimicking Shah Rukh Khan in the film.

The story goes that the team needed to shoot just one final scene, a song titled Chill Maaro, at Mehboob Studios. However just before the final scene Javed broke his leg and had to be admitted to a hospital. The actor was in such pain that the Director/producer Indra Kumar and co-producer Ashok Thackeria immediately altered the scene and showed all the actors lying on the bed.

Producer Ashok Thackeria confirmed the incident, "The film on its last leg…. Javed jumped on the bed very hard and his knee and the ligament below the knee cap tore very badly. We immediately took him to Lilavati as we were in Mehboob Studios...the doctors examined him after X-Rays were taken… Luckily it was not a major injury but he was in immense pain to say the least. Despite the pain, Javed insisted we finish the shoot and hence we then changed the scene with the four boys together on the bed. Javed was brought with a leg support and crutches to the shooting floor, and we wrapped up the shoot and celebrated later on with Jaaved and the entire team!"

The actor says that the Doctor has advised a surgery to treat the ligament tear which is quite bad. His surgery is scheduled for June 1.

Everyone on the set was much concerned about Javed, as he was in excruciating pain, but at the same time the unit also took it as a lucky charm as the first film was a super hit at box-office.

Headlining stars getting hurt on set is considered lucky for the film in Bollywood. Hrithik Roshan got hurt twice on Agneepath set, Shahid Kapoor hurt himself twice on Mausam set and both the films' production units anticipate their films to do well at Box Office.

The Dhamaal sequel, which additionally stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Kangana Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat and Ashish Chowdhry, is due for release on June 24. The film will have its world premiere in Toronto during IIFA 2011.

Mariah Carey Cleared Of Child Endangerment Following Government Probe

Social workers paid a visit to Mariah Carey’s Los Angeles home on Thursday, following claims that the singer drank an alcoholic beverage shortly after giving birth to her twins; this after being told about an Old Wives’ Tale concerning the benefits of beer on breastfeeding.

Carey gave birth to her first children – a son and a daughter – on April 30, her third wedding anniversary with husband Nick Cannon. Officials from the Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) launched the probe after receiving an anonymous tip that Carey had exposed the kids Moroccan and Monroe, to alcohol by drinking Guinness in hospital. According to reports, a staff member at the hospital told the new mom that drinking a half glass of dark beer would help her to start lactating. Mariah took their advice and downed a can, but when social services heard about her drinking (via tabloids, no less…), they decided to launch an investigation. The department quickly found itself on the hot seat, coming under fire from critics for making a fuss over such a high-profile case instead of focussing on reports of more serious neglect and abuse.

Child protection authorities, nonetheless, interviewed Carey at her Los Angeles home on Thursday and dismissed the case after spending time with the singer and her kids, concluding there was no merit to the complaint.
