Could it be? Are Marky Mark and The Biebs really set to make cinema magic together?! Pop sensation Justin Bieber is poised to make his silver screen acting debut alongside Oscar-nominated rapper-turned-actor Mark Wahlberg in an upcoming film project with Paramount Pictures.
The Bostonian sent tweeners squealing when he announced his involvement with a pending feature starring the “Baby” hitmaker during an interview with New York Magazine’s Vulture Column, published on Wednesday.
“Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together..We’re putting it together…We’re doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we’re talking about doing it. He loves the idea. He’s been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he’s really talented,” according to Wahlberg.
Though Mark staying tight-lipped on the deets surrounding the deal, he says we can expect form of official confirmation “fairly soon” Oh — and there will be no singing or dancing.
“More of a drama. It’s interesting, right? You want to know. They’ll probably announce it. They may announce it fairly soon … kind of like a reluctant mentor in an inner-city environment. You know, I don’t want to say.”
Sounds right up Beeb’s alley. The Grammy-nominated pop star cut his teeth with a recurring role as an out-of-control teenage on CBS’ forensic crime drama CSI. Mark — the former crotch of Calvin Klein — first made a splash in the 1997 sexpolitation blockbuster Boogie Nights. He’s gone on to earn acclaim with lead roles in Planet of the Apes, We Own the Night, and The Departed.
Last summer, Wahlberg revealed that he would consider a return to music in order to collaborate with Justin Bieber.
The actor, who enjoyed career as part of the rap group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch back in the early ’90s, said that he’d come out of retirement to record with Bieber — if only to please his young daughter.
“If Justin Bieber asks me, I’ll say yes,” he told The New York Post last August. “Only because my daughter loves him.”
