The British powerhouse has been forced to postpone dates on her sold-out tour of the US and Canada after losing her signature pipes to laryngitis. The “Rolling in the Deep” hitmaker was first diagnosed by doctors last Thursday. Their advice? Bed rest. Adele postponed that night’s engagement in Minneapolis, but decided to perform a Saturday evening set in Denver, Colorado. Yeah — that didn’t go so well. The star’s condition quickly worsened, prompting her to pull out of a show in Salt Lake City on May 29 before postponing gigs in Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland.
“I hate to cancel, especially at such short notice. I am truly devastated. I’m here in the city and tried to do sound check at the venue, but if I push through it tonight, it’ll take me longer to get better and more shows may need cancelling. Please forgive me!” Adele wrote in a blog posting this week.
Adele’s second album, 21, had been at the top of the music charts in the US before Lady Gaga’s Born This Way debuted with platinum-status sales last week.
The tour is set to resume in San Francisco on June 4. Fans are advised to be on the lookout for rescheduled dates.
